The Macleod Lewis colorway is a homespun wool blend classic tartan. It has its roots in an ancient clan with many different tartans. This specific one is one of the most instantly recognizable Scottish tartans. The first image of it is dated to the 1800s, although the clan first originated in the 12th century. The Gaelic name (Leòd) is a form of the Old Norse personal name Ljótr which can mean “bright”, “shining” or alternatively "ugly", which is incredible.
