OUR CAUSES

OUR CAUSES

10% OF EACH OF OUR SALES GOES TO ONE OF THE ORGANIZATIONS BELOW. YOU CHOOSE, WE GIVE.

THE 10% COMES FROM OUR REVENUE, NOT PROFIT- MEANING WE ARE GIVING 10% OF THE TOTAL PRICE OF THE ORDER (NOT INCLUDING SHIPPING), AS OPPOSED TO THE TOTAL PRICE WITH OUR COSTS SUBTRACTED.

From page 33 of the book Emergent Strategy by adrienne maree brown: “I have come to believe that facts, guilt, and shame are limited motivations for creating change, even though those are the primary forces we use in our organizing work. I suspect that to really transform our society, we will need to make justice one of the most pleasurable experiences we can have.”

END THE BACKLOG

END THE BACKLOG is a program of the Joyful Heart Foundation that focuses on shining a light on the rape kit backlog in the United States & ending it by practices "conducting research identifying the extent of the nation’s backlog and best practices for eliminating it, expanding the national dialogue on rape kit testing through increased public awareness, engaging communities and government agencies and officials, and advocating for comprehensive rape kit reform legislation and policies at the local, state and federal levels." Ultimately, they seek to change attitudes about sexual violence and abuse, educate the public, improve systems to lessen the trauma survivors experience and ensure greater access to justice for survivors. End The Backlog understands that race plays a role in how these cases are often systematically mishandled. If you want to get involved in policy change and you’re in the USA, they have suggestions to send to your representatives. We encourage you to click here for more info.

RACHEL CARGLE’S THERAPY FUND FOR BLACK WOMEN

Rachel Elizabeth Cargle is a writer and lecturer whose work often centers around blackness and anti-racism. She created this program to assist black women in accessing mental health care in America, a privilege that is systematically less accessible for women of color. The funds are collected through GoFundMe and therapists are paid directly for sessions. In Rachel’s own words:

“This is moving beyond ‘thoughts and prayers’ and into tools and action.
This is tangible action based community support.
This is intersectional feminism beyond marches, signs and pussy hats.
This is citizen led distribution of wealth.
This is powerful.
To everyone here in this community: we are doing it. We are becoming the ones we’ve been waiting for.”

You can view Rachel’s Instagram here and view the GoFundMe page directly here. The project continues to expand, and the most recent updates can be found at the GoFundMe list.
